On Monday, Folan had the pleasure of attending the regional selections of WorldSkills France at the Lycée Polyvalent de la Côtière in La Boisse (Ain). This national competition highlights professional trades and showcases the expertise of young talents. The high-speed network cabling event brought together eight promising students from various high schools across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Participants were assessed on several key steps essential for setting up a high-performance network:
✅ deployment, installation, and connection of a ftth infrastructure segment
✅ setup of a residential ethernet network
✅ testing and qualification of the installed optical and ethernet links
✅ connection and commissioning of the client installation
This event allowed students to demonstrate their technical skills and mastery of essential tools for their future careers.
Our fiber optic experts, Sophie Guttin and Moussa Mbaye, had the honor of being part of the jury and providing their expertise throughout the day. Their role? To support and evaluate the candidates while emphasizing the industry’s requirements.
At the end of the competition, Mathias Khenaffou secured first place and was rewarded with a Folan elite tool pack, including stripping pliers, a sheath removal tool, splice protectors, and many other essential accessories.
Thanks to his performance, Mathias will represent the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region at the national competition in Marseille in October 2025. We congratulate him and wish him great success in this exciting journey.
At Folan, we are dedicated to supporting the talents of tomorrow and contributing to the development of fiber optic professions. Congratulations to all participants for their commitment and passion, and a big thank you to the organizers for their trust!
